The Luneta Park is considered to be the national park of the Philippines. Since colonial times, the park has been the favorite promenade of Filipinos. It has a place in Philippine history as it is where many Filipino martyrs were executed by the Spanish government - among them the national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. Since the hotel where we were staying at (Manila Hotel) is within the boundaries of the park, we took a quick stroll around the park on our way to Intramuros, the old city of Manila.
